SATA Junior Inner-City

SATA has been involved in an inner-city initiative since 2002.  We want to bring youngsters from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds into the game of tennis.  In particular, we strive to reach populations who do not have access to recreational tennis opportunities.

Presently, our inner-city program consists of two phases: 1. Our school year programs, which we have offered at locations such as the Savannah Housing Authority at Kayton Homes, Frank Callens Boy's and Girl's Club, the Salvation Army and the May Street YMCA. 2. Our summer camp programs, which we began in 2004 in partnership with the City of Savannah. These six week camps are offered at Kennedy Park and Moses Jackson Park during the months of June and July.

Hundreds of children have participated in these structured programs aimed at developing beginning tennis skills in an atmosphere of fun and fair competition.  The goal is to bring this healthful - sport of a lifetime - to an underserved group of children.
