 Twelve Year Old Akela Bryant won the 14 and Under USTA Tournament at Valdosta Winter Classic Sunday February 15th. She partnered with 11 year old Alex Cox from Brunswick to win the 14 and under doubles. Akela is a sixth grader at Derenne Middle School and an avid tennis player. She was the first recipient of the Margaret Torras Moore Tennis Scholarship in 2006 and has played and won in many sanctioned tournaments.

 Austin Nichols, a freshman at Savannah Arts, is the third recipient of the “Margaret Torras Moore Tennis Scholarship.” This scholarship will allow Austin to further develop his tennis skills by sponsoring his attendance at Chuck Kriese’s (2007 College Coach of the Year) tennis camp in Brevard College in North Carolina for a week this June.

 Manuela Emmrich has been playing tennis since age 6 for a total of 21 years. She plays mixed doubles out of Bacon Park. Manuela was a member of Armstrong Atlantic State University's 2006 National Championship team. |
